Everything you need to know to get the most out of Trya, from the basics to advanced tips.

Introduction to Trya

Trya is a budgeting app available on iOS and Android. It allows you to synchronise all your bank accounts in one place, track your spending in real time and analyse your finances.

To synchronise your accounts, Trya uses a service licensed by the ACPR, the French banking supervisory authority, ensuring that bank connections meet the strictest security standards. Trya never has access to your banking credentials.

The essentials in one sentence

Trya aggregates your accounts, categorises your transactions and gives you a clear, reliable view of your money — no ads, no data selling.

First Steps

Getting started on Trya takes less than 2 minutes. Here's how:

  1. 1Download Trya from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
  2. 2Create your account instantly using your Google or Apple account.
  3. 3Connect your first bank to automatically import your transactions.
Your transactions from the last 3 months are automatically retrieved during the initial synchronisation.

Connecting Your Banks

Trya supports the vast majority of French banks: Crédit Agricole, BNP Paribas, Société Générale, LCL, Banque Populaire, Caisse d'Épargne, Boursorama, N26, Revolut, and many others.

  1. 1Go to the « Accounts » tab from the menu.
  2. 2Tap « Add an account ».
  3. 3Search for your bank in the list.
  4. 4Authenticate directly on your bank's website (Trya never sees your credentials).
  5. 5Your accounts and transactions are imported automatically.

Tip

You can connect as many banks as you like with a premium subscription. Trya consolidates everything into a unified view so you always have a complete picture of your finances.

Connection expired?

Banks sometimes require reconnection after a few weeks for security reasons. If a bank shows a synchronisation error, simply reconnect it by tapping the « Reconnect » button.

Your Transactions — Overview

Transactions are accessible from the « Accounts » tab by tapping the dedicated button at the top of the screen. They bring together all your operations, across all banks, in chronological order.

  • Montantshown in colour by default for expenses, in green for credits.
  • Datedate of the operation as provided by your bank.
  • Libelléraw description transmitted by your bank.
  • Catégorieautomatically assigned, editable manually.

Synchronisation occurs automatically every 6 hours, in line with limits imposed by banks.

Categorising Your Transactions

Trya automatically analyses the description of each transaction to assign it a category (Food, Transport, Leisure, Subscriptions…). This automatic categorisation can be corrected at any time.

Changing a category

  1. 1Tap the transaction in the list.
  2. 2Tap the current category.
  3. 3Select the desired category.
  4. 4The change is saved instantly.

Why bother categorising properly?

The more accurate your categorisation, the more reliable your analytics and charts become.

Internal Transfers

The most important Trya tip

Transfers between your own accounts should be categorised as Internal Transfer so they do not distort your analyses.

When you transfer money between two of your accounts, Trya records two transactions: one outflow and one inflow.

  • -Une sortie de 500 € sur le compte courant
  • +Une entrée de 500 € sur le livret d'épargne

How to correct it?

Categorise both transactions as Internal Transfer. They will automatically be excluded from your analyses.

The Internal Transfer category also applies to repayments between friends and transfers to a joint account.

Excluding a Transaction

Some transactions should not appear in your analyses (duplicates, one-off reimbursements, errors…).

To exclude a transaction, categorise it as « Internal Transfer ». It will remain visible but will not be included in your statistics.

Tip

The Internal Transfer category is used both for movements between your own accounts and to occasionally exclude a transaction from your analyses.

Creating a Budget

A budget lets you set a spending ceiling for a category over a given period.

  1. 1Go to the « Budget » tab.
  2. 2Tap « Create a budget ».
  3. 3Choose a category.
  4. 4Set the limit amount.
  5. 5Confirm.
Categories are organised according to a revisited 50/30/20 method, giving you a personalised recommendation for the ideal breakdown of your spending. Dedicated indicators let you see at a glance how your needs, wants and savings are evolving.

Managing Categories

Trya provides default categories covering the main spending areas.

You can create up to 3 custom categories, or an unlimited number with a premium subscription.

Advice

The default categories cover the vast majority of cases. Reserve custom categories for items that are truly specific to your situation.
